Birr Airfield (EIBR) played host yesterday (14thJune) to what was a memorable and uplifting aviation gathering – the Birr Breakfast Fly-In.
Organised in aid of the wonderful Saint Vincent De Paul (SVP) Ireland charity, the event saw aviation enthusiasts, families, and supporters from across Ireland come together in celebration of flight, community spirit, and charitable giving.
A Famous Irish Welcome – The Birr Breakfast
No aviation event in Ireland has food that compares to the world-famous Birr Breakfast – and this year’s event lived up to its reputation. Attendees were treated to a delicious traditional breakfast, served with warmth and generosity by a fantastic team of volunteers and supporters.
Weathering the Irish Skies
Despite some typical “four seasons in a day” Irish weather, the fly-in drew a fantastic crowd – both on the ground and in the air. Spectators were rewarded with flypasts of visiting aircraft, proving once again that rain showers are no match for aviation passion in Ireland.
Highlights in the Skies
Among the variety of aircraft that made the journey to Birr were:
- The Irish Air Corps’ AW139 helicopter, always a crowd favourite with its
distinctive presence and operational flair. - The Irish Coast Guard’s Beechcraft King Air 200, whose flypast was met with
and appreciation by the crowds. - A range of light aircraft and GA favourites from across the country.
In conjunction with Millenium Promotions, the ASG team were proudly on hand to ensure that all aircraft movements were conducted safely and efficiently, allowing guests of all ages to enjoy the event in a relaxed and
secure setting.
Thank you to everyone for making the fly-in a great success!
Events like this are only made possible through collaboration and community. Sincere thanks go to: Birr Airfield, Weston Airport, Ormand Flying Club, The Millennium Events Team, The Irish Air Corps, The Irish Coast Guard, and of course, everyone who attended and donated generously to this worthy cause.
The Birr Breakfast Fly-In reminded us not only of the power of aviation to bring people together, but also of the shared values of generosity and community that make Ireland’s aviation community so special.
