PPL theory at ASG

We are proud to offer an industry-leading Private Pilot Licence (PPL) theory course. You can register and commence your training with us immediately even prior to commencing your practical flight training.

This is a PPL theory course only and will meet the course requirements in order to sit the PPL examinations. You can complete our EASA approved PPL theory course to prepare for your exams prior to or during your PPL flight training.

Note: we provide theory training only. To complete the practical component of your flight training, you will need to contact your local flying club or flying school.

How does it work?

Our PPL theoretical knowledge course consists of 121hrs of theoretical knowledge training including both distance learning and classroom training elements. Our course involves an online programme which is managed and overseen by our training team through our online learning management system. Our online learning system can be accessed across all devices and all of the learning content can even be downloaded for offline use. The learning centre includes lots of useful tutorials, progress tests, and training material to help you succeed with your PPL exams.

A total of 32hrs (4 days) of classroom instruction is provided. Classes are conducted over weekends so that you can easily attend. Classroom sessions may be completed “in-class” or by logging in remotely to our “hybrid” classroom. You can even book your revision class place online here once you have completed the course enrollment process.

How much does it cost?

The course cost of our PPL course is €850 which includes:

Note: course price does not include PPL theory manuals which must be purchased here directly from PadPilot. If you have already purchased PPL manuals from another provider then these can be used instead.

Why Choose ASG?

Since our foundation in 2015, our approach to theory training has been characterised by providing students with a bespoke, high quality, and personalised training experience.

We limit class sizes to ensure the optimum learning environment, support students throughout their PPL training journey, and deliver the highest standard of theoretical knowledge instruction. Through our high quality instruction, aside from being more likely to excel at your exams, you are likely to retain this important information as a Private Pilot.

Our facilities are a unique aviation training environment ideal for an aspiring aviation student. With over 20,000 square feet available located next to Dublin Airport, the entire building has been designed from the ground up to provide a bespoke, convenient and a best-in-class learning environment for aviation professionals.

We share the facility with a number of airlines and training organisations and it houses a fleet of Full-motion and fixed-base Flight Simulation Devices, some of which our students get to sample on their breaks from classes.

When are the classes conducted?

The live classroom element of our PPL theory classes are conducted over two weekends (4 days attendance in total) from 9 to 5pm. These classes are timed in line with the published Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) PPL exam sittings which take place every two months (see here).

All of our training is conducted at Kestrel House in the Dublin Airport Logistics Park right next to Dublin Airport. With our hybrid classroom, you can choose to “sit in” or “login” and even alternate between both by physically attending class on one day and logging in for the class the next day – this option provides you with the ultimate flexibility for your PPL theory course.

Our hybrid classroom

ASG’s “hybrid” classroom concept provides you with the ultimate flexibility when choosing how you would like to attend your PPL revision classes with us.

You can choose to attend the class remotely or in-class and even alternate between the two. In order to ensure a fantastic classroom experience for those who choose to attend remotely, we have invested in multiple artificial intelligence 4K webcams, ambient microphones, and an 86-inch meetingboard touchscreen where the faces of those attending remotely will be displayed to the students who are attending physically – so everyone feels part of our classroom.
