ASG Shortlisted for Three Aviation Industry Awards

ASG Shortlisted for Three Aviation Industry Awards

ASG is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in three categories at the Aviation Industry Awards 2026, recognising our work across aviation education, technology and innovation.

ASG has been named as a finalist for:

  • Best Use of Technology Award — ASG: Integrated Hybrid Aviation Learning Ecosystem
  • Aviation Academic Education Award — ASG
  • Aviation Innovation Award — ASG: Redefining the Aviation Classroom

For our team, the significance of the three nominations goes well beyond the awards themselves. They represent independent recognition of a direction ASG has pursued deliberately for several years: investing in people, technology and learning systems to make high-quality aviation theoretical knowledge training more accessible, flexible and effective.

The Aviation Industry Awards are a benchmark for excellence, best practice and innovation across Ireland’s aviation sector. Entries are assessed by an independent panel of aviation professionals, with the 2026 programme spanning 25 categories across aviation operations, technology, education, people development and innovation.

Recognition of the investment behind the scenes

Much of the work that goes into improving aviation training is not immediately visible.

Over recent years, ASG has made significant investment in developing an integrated learning environment that allows students to combine high-quality digital learning with live instruction, classroom attendance and remote participation.

That has included continued investment in our learning management systems, digital learning resources, live and recorded tuition, classroom technology, hybrid delivery infrastructure and the systems required to support students wherever they are based.

The objective has never simply been to put traditional classroom training online. It has been to rethink how theoretical knowledge training can be delivered while retaining the interaction, instructional quality and operational relevance that students expect from face-to-face training.

Being shortlisted for the Best Use of Technology Award is therefore particularly meaningful. Recent finalists in this category have included organisations such as daa, dnata, Future Mobility Campus Ireland and Manna Air Delivery.

To see an aviation training organisation recognised alongside technology projects operating across airports, airline services, digital aviation and autonomous flight is something of which the ASG team is enormously proud.

Aviation education remains at the heart of ASG

Technology, however, is only useful if it improves the learning experience.

The Aviation Academic Education Award focuses on areas including curriculum development, student preparedness for aviation careers, excellence in education and exposure to the wider aviation community.

These principles align closely with the philosophy on which ASG has been built.

Our instructors are practising aviation professionals who bring operational experience into the classroom and connect theoretical knowledge with the environment in which students will eventually use it.

For ASG, ATPL theory should never be approached simply as a regulatory requirement to be completed on the way to a licence. The knowledge acquired during theoretical training provides an important foundation for subsequent flight training, type rating, airline selection and ultimately professional flight operations.

Being shortlisted in that company provides welcome validation for the instructors, course developers and support team responsible for ASG’s academic standards.

Redefining the aviation classroom

Our third nomination, for the Aviation Innovation Award, is perhaps the clearest recognition of the broader direction in which ASG has been developing.

The award looks specifically at innovations that provide practical solutions and deliver measurable benefits in areas such as technology, productivity, safety, customer experience or cost effectiveness. Judges also consider how an innovation improves on existing approaches and its potential wider impact on aviation.

ASG’s recongition for “Redefining the Aviation Classroom” — reflects our belief that students should no longer have to choose between the flexibility of distance learning and the benefits of high-quality live instruction.

Our model has continued to evolve around that principle: combining digital-first learning, live interaction, professional instruction and flexible attendance options into one training environment.

“Recognition of the whole team”

ASG Founder Diarmuid O’Riordan said the three nominations were particularly meaningful because they recognise different elements of the same long-term strategy.

“We have invested very heavily over the last number of years in our people, our technology and in creating a learning environment that genuinely works for modern aviation students. None of that investment was made to win awards — it was made because we believed there was a better way to deliver aviation theoretical knowledge training.”

He continued:

“To now be shortlisted in three separate categories covering academic education, technology and innovation is a fantastic validation of that work. More importantly, it is recognition of the instructors, course developers, support team and wider ASG community who have helped us continually improve what we do.”

O’Riordan added:

“When you look at the organisations that have traditionally been represented in these categories — from major aerospace companies and airports to some of Ireland’s most innovative aviation businesses — we are genuinely proud to have ASG recognised in that company.”

Continuing to invest

The nominations will not change the direction of ASG.

If anything, they reinforce our commitment to continue investing in instructional quality, digital learning, new technology and the student experience.

The aviation industry continues to evolve rapidly, and training organisations must evolve with it. For ASG, that means retaining what matters most — knowledgeable instructors, high standards and meaningful interaction — while taking advantage of technology where it can genuinely improve learning.

The Aviation Industry Awards 2026 ceremony takes place on 3 December 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dublin Airport, bringing together organisations from across Ireland’s aviation community.

Whatever the outcome on the night, being shortlisted across three separate award categories is already an achievement of which the entire ASG team can be proud.

We would like to thank our students, instructors, airline and aviation partners, clients and colleagues for the trust they continue to place in ASG.
