ASG Strengthens Airline Training Partnership with ASL Airlines Through Latest Flight Operations & Dispatch Programme

ASG has once again delivered a dedicated two-week Flight Operations & Dispatch training programme for our airline partners at ASL Airlines, continuing a relationship that reflects the growing role of ASG as a specialist training provider to airlines, government organisations and aviation professionals.

The latest programme ran from 5–16 October 2026, with ten days of structured theoretical and practical training delivered by a team of ASG instructors.

For ASG, the programme represents more than the successful delivery of another airline training course. Repeat engagements from established aviation organisations are an important endorsement of the quality, relevance and operational credibility of the training we provide.

ASG has previously delivered dedicated training programmes for ASL Airlines, as well as a combined Flight Operations & Dispatch programme for personnel from ASL Airlines, Norwegian, Aer Lingus, Emerald, CityJet, and SAS Scandinavian Airlines, making this latest course another step in an established airline-training relationship.

Training for the operational heart of an airline

Flight Operations and Dispatch personnel play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of an airline.

Their work brings together a wide range of disciplines including regulation, aircraft performance, meteorology, navigation, flight planning, operational procedures, communications and human factors. Effective training must therefore do considerably more than simply introduce individual subjects — it must help participants understand how those subjects interact in a real airline operating environment.

The latest ASL Airlines programme began with Air Law, Regulations and Aviation Indoctrination, before progressing through communications and Air Traffic Management, operational procedures and dangerous goods, navigation and human factors during the first week.

The second week covered Mass and Balance, Meteorology, Flight Planning & Monitoring, and Aircraft Systems and Performance, supported by practical exercises and formal assessment.

This broad syllabus is deliberately designed to develop a joined-up understanding of airline operations rather than treating each subject in isolation.

Delivered by aviation professionals

A central part of the ASG approach is that aviation training should be delivered by people who understand the environment in which the knowledge will ultimately be used.

That ability to assemble experienced instructors from different areas of aviation is increasingly important as ASG expands its work with commercial operators and public-sector organisations.

Our objective is not simply to provide a syllabus. It is to create training that is credible to the people receiving it and directly relevant to the operation they return to afterwards.

Repeat business is the strongest endorsement

ASG Founder Diarmuid O’Riordan said:

“Repeat business is one of the strongest endorsements a training organisation can receive. We are extremely proud that ASL Airlines has once again trusted ASG to provide training for its people.”

He continued:

“Airline operations is an environment where theoretical knowledge has to translate into good operational decision-making. That is why we place such importance on using instructors with real aviation experience and on ensuring that our courses connect the individual subjects to the reality of airline operations.”

One training organisation — across the aviation industry

The latest airline programme also reflects a broader development taking place within ASG.

While the organisation is well known for ATPL theoretical knowledge training for professional and aspiring pilots, an increasing proportion of ASG’s work now involves bespoke and specialist training delivered directly to aviation organisations.

Today, ASG’s activities span three closely connected areas:

  • Airlines and commercial operators, through programmes such as Flight Operations & Dispatch training and other specialist theoretical knowledge courses;
  • Government and public-sector organisations, including specialist aviation, military and Search & Rescue training; and
  • Professional and aspiring pilots, through ASG’s established EASA ATPL theoretical knowledge and wider aviation training programmes.

The common thread across all three is operational credibility.

Whether the student is beginning an airline career, an experienced professional working within an Operations Control environment, or personnel undertaking specialist aviation responsibilities for a government organisation, the principle remains the same: training should be relevant, professionally delivered and connected to the environment in which it will ultimately be applied.

Continuing our partnership with ASL Airlines

ASG would like to thank ASL Airlines for once again placing its trust in our team and thank all of the participants and instructors involved in the latest programme.

We are proud to continue supporting one of our established airline partners and look forward to further developing the relationship in the future.

For ASG, programmes such as this demonstrate exactly where we want the organisation to sit within the wider industry: training future aviation professionals while simultaneously supporting the airlines and organisations in which those professionals will build their careers.

ASG is an EASA Approved Training Organisation providing aviation training and consultancy services to airlines, government organisations, aviation professionals and student pilots.
